Peace activist, friend, great- grandmother Ilse Bell passed away peacefully on Sunday, 31 Jan, 9.35 pm surrounded by family and friends, there being little distinction between the two.

Those who knew her will be left with an Ilse shaped hole, but also with the inspiration of a woman who endured losses such as nobody should ever have to deal with, and who  lived out the ‘never again’ testimony by refusing bitterness, by faithful, determined and above compassionate activism for peace and justice.

 +
Ilse grew up inBreslau, Germany, which is  now Wroclaw in Poland.
 +
 +
She came to England as a Kindertransport in 1938, when child protection meant putting your child on a train and praying for their survival, when your own was unlikey.  Ilse's parents persihed in the holocaust.
 +
 +
Ilse led a very active life  until age and frailty got the better of her.
