The feature documentary '''Encounter Point''' will be followed by a couple of short video clips and a slideshow from Hagar – Jewish-Arab Education for Equality, a pre-school in Southern Israel.
+
Encounter Point (Israel/Palestine/North America/Brazil) is an 85-minute feature documentary film that follows a former Israeli settler,
 +
a Palestinian ex-prisoner, a bereaved Israeli mother and a wounded Palestinian bereaved brother who
 +
risk their lives and public standing to promote a nonviolent end to the conflict. Their journeys lead
 +
them to the unlikeliest places to confront hatred within their communities. The film explores what
 +
drives them and thousands of other like-minded civilians to overcome anger and grief to work for
 +
grassroots solutions. It is a film about the everyday leaders in our midst.
 +

 +
The film will be followed by a discussion.

==Wednesday 10th March: Film: Outside the Law: Stories from Guantánamo, 7pm, The Curve (downstairs in The Forum)==
 +
A new documentary telling the story of Guantánamo: torture, extraordinary rendition and secret prisons. Examining how the Bush administration turned its back on domestic and international law, rounding up prisoners in Afghanistan and Pakistan without adequate screening and often for large bounty payments.  Focusing on the stories of three prisoners, Shaker Aamer, Binyam Mohamed and Omar Deghayes, 'Outside the Law: Stories from Guantánamo' is  powerful rebuke to the myth that Guantánamo holds “the worst of the worst”.

==Monday, 29 March, Food, Inc., 20:30 - 22:30, Cinema City==
 +
Food, Inc. illustrates the dangers of a food system controlled by powerful
 +
corporations that don’t want you to see, to think about or to criticize how our
 +
food is made. The film reveals how complicated and compromised the once simple
 +
process of growing crops and raising livestock to feed ourselves and our
 +
families has become. But, it also reminds us that despite what appears to be at
 +
times a hopeless situation, each of us still has the ability to vote on this
 +
issue every day at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Ilse Bell  22/2/19224 – 31/1/2010
Peace activist, friend, great- grandmother Ilse Bell passed away peacefully on Sunday, 31 Jan, 9.35 pm surrounded by family and friends, there being little distinction between the two.  Those who knew her will be left with an Ilse shaped hole, but also with the inspiration of a woman who endured losses such as nobody should ever have to deal with, and who  lived out the ‘never again’ testimony by refusing bitterness, by faithful, determined and above compassionate activism for peace and justice.

Ilse grew up in Breslau, Germany, which is  now Wroclaw in Poland. She came to England as a Kindertransport in 1938, when child protection meant putting your child on a train and praying for their survival, when your own was unlikely.  Ilse's parents perished in the holocaust.
