==Gaza one year on  Sat. 2nd January 2010, 11.30, outside the Forum==
 +
Rally to remember last years military attacks on Gaza. Speakers include Dr Ian Gibson.  On 27th December 2009, the day of the Jewish Sabbath, Israeli armed forces commenced their merciless operation Cast Lead against the besieged people of Gaza.
 +
 +
For the following 20 days they were relentlessly bombarded from land sea and air resulting in over 1,400 deaths including over 300 children and many women and over 5,000 wounded as well as inestimable damage to buildings and infrastructure which left almost nothing unscathed. To the shame of the world the siege has still not been lifted and Gaza is living on a knife edge unable
 +
to rebuild or function properly at even the most basic of levels.

==Saturday 9th Unwanted Christmas Presents Auction ==
 +
 +
At Green drinks on January 9th we’re having an
 +
un-wanted Christmas present auction. All proceeds
 +
will go towards the Green Party and everyone
 +
can find the presents they actually wanted.
 +
The Auction will be held with drinks at the Hung
 +
Sing Martial Arts School at 7:30pm before we
 +
head to the Reindeer Pub (Addresses p.4). So
 +
don’t let your earmuffs go to waste - come along
 +
and help out the Green Party.
 +
Please bring all unwanted Christmas presents
 +
along on the night. If you have anything you want
 +
to drop off before the night then please phone Jo
 +
WiIlcott on 07940 575536.
 +
Green Drinks is a chance for our supporters to
 +
meet and socialise. There will always be someone
 +
wearing a Green Party badge so come along
 +
at 7.30 on the 9th of each month.
 +
===NoteChange of plan===The whole event will be at the Hung Sing Martial Arts School, so guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink. This is due to the temporary closure of the Reindeer pub which is not due to re-open until the end of January.

An honest, forthright account full of compassion and insight. It plunges the reader into Gaza.JEREMY HARDY
 +

 +
The Israeli offensive in Gaza was described by Amnesty international as ‘22 days
 +
of death and destruction’. Defying an international press ban, Sharyn Lock’s
 +
eye witness blogs became crucial reading for anyone following the conflict.
 +
Sharyn’s candid and dramatic accounts provide an important glimpse behind the
 +
media black-out, of Palestinians who face their oppression with courage - and
 +
humour. Those blogs have now been edited into a book - come and join the
 +
Norwich signing.
 +
 +
At the Book Hive, 53 London Street, Norwich (at junction of London Street and Opie Street)S
 +
 +
Entrance by donation and refreshments available

The event will feature a reading by Sharyn and one by Ian Gibson.
