The Resilience Plan group together with the Heart and Soul Group invite you to join us in a discussion about "getting from here to there". A lot of the Resilience Plan has been written and gives some clear ideas about how we need to change our food, transport, home heating etc. But how do we get from here to there? What are the inner, as well as outer, obstacles to change, and how do we help to overcome them?

Ben White is a freelance journalist and writer specialising in Palestine/Israel. He also writes on the broader Middle East, Islam and Christianity, and the ‘war on terror’. Ben has been visiting Palestine/Israel since 2003 for periods of between two weeks and three months, typically basing himself in the Bethlehem district of the West Bank.
 +

 +
His articles have appeared in a variety of international publications, including the Guardian online’s ‘Comment is free’, the New Statesman, Electronic Intifada, Christian Science Monitor, Palestine Chronicle, Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Middle East International, Church Times, Church of England Newspaper, Third Way, and Palestine-Israel Journal.
 +

 +
In 2008, along with blogger and film-maker Philip Rizk, Ben organised the ‘JustPeace60’ declaration of Christian leaders around the world. On Israel’s 60th anniversary, this statement was published in the UK national newspaper ‘The Independent’ and reproduced all over the internet. He has given numerous talks on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in universities, churches, and community centres.

==Wednesday  9th December 2009,AFGHANISTAN PUBLIC MEETING DEFEND LANCE CORPORAL JOE GLENTON==
 +
7.30pm in THE CURVE (downstairs) at the FORUM, MILLENNIUM PLAIN, NORWICH
 +
SPEAKER: JOHN TIPPLE, (FROM JOE’S LEGAL TEAM)
 +

 +
Lance Corporal Joe Glenton is the soldier who faces desertion charges for
 +
refusing to return to Afghanistan plus additional charges for speaking out
 +
in opposition to the presence of troops in Afghanistan, for which he could
 +
face 10 years in prison.
 +
The latest poll (for the Independent on Sunday)shows that 71% of Britons
 +
back the call for withdrawal of forces within a year. They, like Joe
 +
Glenton, are saying the war is not being fought in their name.
 +
The Independent also reports that "this ill-conceived and ill-judged war
 +
has left as many as 32,000 Afghans dead and 235,000 displaced."
 +
While generals are free to speak in support of sending more soldiers to a
 +
futile war in Afghanistan, when a soldier speaks out he is imprisoned.  As
 +
we cannot have Joe speak to us, we are pleased to have John Tipple, one of
 +
his legal team, to update us on this matter.
 +
Help us to make this an important meeting in our campaign to bring the
 +
troops home and to support a courageous soldier.
 +
