*Monday, 1 June, Heart and Soul meeting, 19:30 - 21:30, Elder's Vestry, United Reformed Church Rooms. The Dreaming of Norwich Inspired by the documentary about eco-theologian Thomas Berry, we have begun to explore the role of our imagination in creating a sustainable future. After last meeting's presentation on The Earth Dreaming Bank, an inquiry into the relationship between human dreams and the consciousness of the earth, we decided to embark on a group exploration of The Dreaming of Norwich. Our findings will form part of the the Heart and Soul "chapter" of the Resilience Action Plan currently being compiled. If you would like to take part in this creative and original project do come along.

But the urgency of climate change means we need to go a lot further, and very quickly. How can we expand Transition Norwich to get the majority of Norwich's population making really deep cuts in their greenhouse gas emissions within the next 2-3 years? The next Training for Transition course will be on 25/26th July at Inner Space with tutors from the Transition Network and Transition Town Totnes. This is a 2-day "fundamentals" course for those wishing to know how to set up, run, and maintain a successful transition initiative. It is packed with imaginative and inspiring ways to delve into both the theory and practice of Transition. The cost is £105. Although this course is available both nationally and internationally it would be good to fill the places with people from Norwich and East Anglia to maximise our networking and support for each other. DSEi, the world's largest arms fair, is returning to East London on 8-11 September. CAAT's Stop Week on 14-21 June aims to undermine the government support which makes it possible by targeting UK Trade & Investment.

The organisers deny that arms deals take place at 'Defence Systems & Equipment International' (DSEi). But as Magnum Photographer, Martin Parr reported from the IDEX fair: “Buying is a long process and rarely completed in less than a year, but for many arms deals IDEX is the starting line.”

1933, Norfolk was temporarily home to the world’s most famous scientist and refugee, Albert Einstein.

FAIR TRADE IN NORFOLK - YOUR CHANCE TO SHAPE ITS FUTURE

Over the past five years, Fair Trade in Norfolk has achieved a huge amount, campaigning for, and promoting, fair trade across the county.  We can be proud that during that time the concept of fair trade has become much more mainstream.

Because of this, now is the time to transform the way that we continue to campaign for fair trade, and we have taken the decision that this will be best done in the future through other groups and organisations, especially the City Monitoring Group.

So we would like to invite you to the final AGM of Fair Trade in Norfolk, both to celebrate what we have achieved, and to discuss how we can keep the momentum going.  The meeting will take place on Monday 15th June at 6pm in the Mancroft Room, City Hall, Norwich.

We will also be joined at the AGM by Nick Leverett, who will explain about The Waitrose Foundation.  This promises to be an interesting insight into how the mainstream High Street is adopting the principles that we have been campaigning for, and a real demonstration of the effect that groups such as Fair Trade in Norfolk have had over the past few years.
