| + | The School of International Development will host an annual lecture and drinks reception in honour of Professor Piers Blaikie. Piers joined the school in 1972 and is internationally recognised as one of the founders of the field of political ecology. | ||

Melissa is professorial fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, and has written widely on the environment in Africa. The lecture will present compelling stories from the forests of West Africa. | ||
