+ | The School of International Development will host an annual lecture and drinks reception in honour of Professor Piers Blaikie. Piers joined the school in 1972 and is internationally recognised as one of the founders of the field of political ecology. | ||

+ | The lecture will be introduced by Piers, and will be given by Melissa Leach, on Green Wins or Green Grabs: Contested Pathways to Sustainability in Africa. Melissa is professorial fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, and has written widely on the environment in Africa. The lecture will present compelling stories from the forests of West Africa. | ||
