with Tony Benn, Red Flags, and Ian Saville's Magic for Socialists -
 +
An annual rally is held each September in the Norfolk village of Burston to remember the Strike School.  This school represented the ‘longest strike in history’ when pupils from Burston school went on strike to protest at the sacking of their teachers; Tom and Kitty Higdon.
 +
The pupils though, were not having their free-thinking teachers sacked, and went on strike, effectively creating a new school.

Even as the scientists are telling us action on climate change is becoming ever more urgent the politicians are dithering again – no climate treaty was produced at the last UN talks in Copenhagen, and every year we waste brings us closer to a tipping point beyond which climate change becomes unstoppable.
Even as the scientists are telling us action on climate change is becoming ever more urgent the politicians are dithering again – no climate treaty was produced at the last UN talks in Copenhagen, and every year we waste brings us closer to a tipping point beyond which climate change becomes unstoppable.
So now is the time for everyone to act together for the sake of our children's future, by joining in the zero carbon world concert for a zero carbon world on 27/28 November, just before the next UN climate summit, to show the politicians that a zero carbon world is possible.

The main ground for the Council's decision to reject the application was their concern about the wider impacts of the biofuels which the company  intends to burn - largely palm oil from South-east Asia.  However, the Planning Inspector has so far stated that the Council's main reasons for originally rejecting the application will not even be heard! Instead, it is claimed that wier impacts of biofuels are not  planning matters - because of one sentence in an outdated technical annex to planning guidance.  Weymouth & Portland Council previously cited that same document and sentence when approving another palm oil power station by W4B.
