Saturday 27th March, 12pm at the Castle Meadow entrance to the Castle
Mall. We will raise public awareness about opting out with banners,
flyers, handouts and hearty discussion.

*+ 10th April - Norwich NO2ID Street Stall +*
Saturday 10th April, 1-3pm at The Haymarket, Gentleman's Walk, Norwich.
Come along to tell the public why ID cards are an intrusive waste of
money. The more the merrier!

*+ 12th April - Peace Hustings +*
Monday 12th April, 7pm (time TBC) at Friends Meeting Lodge. With the
election looking likely to be held in May, we're having a husting event
on the theme of Peace and Social Justice, where we will grill
representatives from each of the main parties, including Charles Clarke.

*+ 13th April - Norwich NO2ID Election Party Meeting +*
Tuesday 13th April from 7.30-9pm at The Workshop, 53 Earlham Road, NR2
3AD. This will probably be a more relaxed meeting than usual, to
contemplate the activities that we've been involved in previously and
what we intend to achieve before and after the election.

Saturday 17th April. We will be hitting the coast to spread the NO2ID
message afar. and probably have ice cream on the pier. Email

Dr. Shirin Zubair (Visiting Fellow in DEV and currently based with the
Literacy and Development Group) will be introducing and answering
questions about a documentary she made in Pakistan (see below) on Tuesday
All are welcome to attend to watch the documentary and hear firsthand
about this women's rights movement in Pakistan,
Based on the true story of a feminist professor and a revolutionary artist
who launch a women's rights movement in Southern Punjab, Pakistan€a hotbed
of religious extremism and terrorism with the highest crime rate of
violence against women . Joining hands for social change , they challenge
the constructs of a patriarchal Muslim society through emancipatory
education  in the repressive society of today's Pakistan. The story takes
us deep into the heart of contemporary Pakistani society and unfolds the
anarchy and talibanization within the educational institutions; laying
bare the paradoxes , hypocrisy and contradictions of a dying society. As
the progressive and humanistic elements in education are deemed immoral,
the consciousness-raising organization ReWAC ( Revolutionary Women Action
Committee) is crushed in the name of religion and morality. The
protagonists are penalized -they both lose their positions at the
university, thus a message is sent out to other women and activists who
may dare to strive for social change.

==Amnesty Talk: The battle for Jerusamlem, Wed. April 21st, 8pm, Stanley Cooper Hall==
 
An illustrated talk by Ann Wright of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel

Ann has worked as a volunteer on two occasions, one based in  Ramallah, the other in Jerusalem. This will be her second talk to the group and will focus on evictions and the demolition of Palestinian homes. Her research work was recently used in the BBC Panorama programme.
