Anti war events can never be seen as "successful", i.e. wars carry on regardless. However moments of reflection in the midst of our normal day-to-day-ness are certainly not a bad thing. Moments of clarity need nurturing and art can help make that happen. The show entitled AMMUNITION appeals to a broad cross section with work from agitprop to cool; from fine art to cartoon. In short something for everyone, well anyone who hopes and believes that peace is somehow possible, no matter how difficult to find. The show includes photomontage artist Peter Kennard with prints fresh from his London exhibition; international Pop artist and patron of Norwich Fringe Festival Colin Self; a print from the Lebanon series by John Kiki; and dancer and vocalist Samia Malik whose work explores race, language, politics, roots and religion. There will be a privat view when all the artists will be present: 7th November from 6.00pm. St Margarets Centre for the Arts,St. Benedicts Street, Norwich NR2 4PF For further info please contact: Art@ammunition.me.uk http://sites.google.com/a/ammunition.me.uk/ammunition/index ---- ==Film Show: Occupation 101, Thursday, Nov 6th, 7.00pm, UEA Arts Room 01.02== Occupation 101 is the winner of 8 film festival awards. Sign the People's Treaty== {| class="wikitable" |- |width="10%"| [[Image:cluster_bomb_treaty.gif]] |width="30%"| http://www.minesactioncanada.org/peoples_treaty/index.cfm |width="50%"| |} Cluster bombs cause predictable and unacceptable harm to civilians, both at the time of use and for many years after. It is my strong belief that these weapons are morally unacceptable. '''The Convention on Cluster Munitions – Explained''' The Convention on Cluster Munitions was negotiated and adopted at the Dublin Diplomatic Conference on 30 May 2008 by 107 states. It is a legally binding international treaty that forbids the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of cluster bombs. The Convention will be signed in Oslo on 3 December 2008. No changes can be made to the wording of the treaty. The Convention bans cluster bombs, with no exceptions or period of time in which countries can continue to use them after the ban. Stockpiles must be destroyed within eight years and contaminated land cleared within 10. The Convention sets a new standard for assisting victims and protecting their human rights. States must provide medical, financial and psychological support to survivors and all people affected by cluster bombs. http://www.minesactioncanada.org/peoples_treaty/index.cfm
