This has left contemporary British society in a troubled and dysfunctional state, without the cohesion or confidence needed if we are to escape from recession, combat climate change and restore faith in government. The authors put forward a theoretical framework for understanding contemporary politics; and they consider what is to be done to revitalise the British left, challenge neoliberal hegemony, and develop a political project aimed at creating a greener, fairer, happier, more democratic and less divided Britain. Contributors to the book Patrick Ainley, Martin Allen, David Beetham, Noel Castree, Pat Devine, Angela McRobbie, Linda Patterson, Andrew Pearmain, Michael Prior, David Purdy, Kate Soper Speakers on the evening: *David Purdy, co-author Feelbad Britain *Rupert Read, prospective Eastern Region MEP, Green Party *Jonathan Clark, chairperson, Norwich Compass Chair: Andrew Pearmain, co-author Feelbad Britain ------------ ==NO2ID street stall, Saturday, 13th June 1pm-3pm at The Haymarket== Please come along to express your discontent at this expensive and intrusive scheme. The first is that of Raoul and Pam, the authors, and is a tale of the passions of an organic farmer and a plant genetic scientist. The second is the potential marriage of two technologies-organic agriculture and genetic engineering. ... Like all good marriages, both include shared values, lively tensions, and reinvigorating complementarities. [The authors] share a strong sense of both the wonder of the natural world and how, if treated with respect and carefully managed, it can remain a source of inspiration and provision of our daily needs."- As from http://pamelaronald.blogspot.com ---------------- {{Norwich Scoop footer|}}
